From Peg:
When I was pregnant with my first child, a friend had just read Husband Coached Childbirth. Since we were moving to Denver, she told me I should go see Dr. Bradley. I had no idea who he was, but didn’t have any other OB’s in mind, so I took her advice. He recommended the pediatricians next door. They told me they were only taking new patients if you were breastfeeding – they were tired of treating sick babies. They also told me to go to La Leche League and then I wouldn’t have any problems, so I did and the rest is history. That was 1970- before Doctors were afraid to make people feel guilty.
From Elizabeth:
I learned everything I could about breastfeeding long before my son was even conceived. I was determined that my children would have my milk. To my relief, I didn’t need to use most of it. I syringe fed him for nearly a day before he would latch and suffered a few days with overwhelming engorgement but ended up donating 100+ ounces of breastmilk over the first 8 weeks of his life. Things got much easier in those 8 weeks. It was literally like night and day. Now he’s 7 months and I wish everything could be as easy as breastfeeding!
