In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month, I’m sharing from our 100 Words Project every day.
He came into this world with both fists pressed to his ears. He scowled at his father, blinked, blinked and was laid on my belly. He lifted his head and I’ll never forget the eagerness, THE EAGERNESS with which he bobbed and crawled, eyes locked on mine, until his mouth covered my nipple for the first time. He nursed for two hours, interrupted once to improve his color. He’s beautiful, I said, having had no idea my husband and I could create such a lovely creature. It’s not always been this easy, but it’s been worth every moment.
